A few years ago when my son entered high school and joined the football team, I came up with the idea to volunteer my time to redesign and improve his high school (and my old school's) football website. I not only wanted to do this so that my son's experience would be more enjoyable - but so that the entire team, their families, alumni and fans could get the most out of Guilford High School football. It's wonderful to know that a player's grandparents who live out-of-state can visit the site and see how their grandson's team is doing through articles, stats and photos. The site is also a great way for coaches and the booster club to deliver information to players, families and fans. Best of all...the kids love it.

I am happy to say that the site has become a very popular place for folks to visit from Guilford and beyond and I have recieved many inquiries on the possibilty of providing this service to teams throughout the state. Therefore, we have put together a package to hopefully provide an affordable solution to getting your team a terrific site that can actually raise money as well!

Here's the details:
We build your site - and you get local merchants to advertise on the site. We charge a one-time site building cost, then a yearly maintenance fee. The advertising on your team's site could EASILY pay for the site's yearly maintenance fee and generate funds for the team in the process!
The ads on the site will be a valuable investment for local businesses, the Guilford site registered over 6,000 unique visitors in the month of Sep., '06 and over 7,500 visitors in Oct! These ads are not the kind that are viewed once in a game program and then tossed aside - but appear to their customers every time the site is visited throughout the year. You can generate enough funds to pay for your site's maintenance costs by selling just 3-4 ads! The rest of the ad sales goes straight into the team's pocket!
A one-time site design fee of $1595.00 is charged to create your website. As time goes on it will grow on it's own through regularly added content. Here's what's included in the initial design:

• A professional site design, (on par with the Guilford site) with a look that's unique to your team.
• Home page featuring team news, photos, links, etc.
• Varsity roster page with professionally shot player photos (player & coaches photos included), & a freshmen roster page
• Coaches’ page with photos (included)
• Varsity stat pages for each game & cumulative season stats page
• All-time school records page
• Schedule pages for varsity, jv & freshmen with links to game directions
• Team booster club page
We charge an annual maintenance fee of $2600.00 for your site. There are up to 10 spots on the site for merchants to place their ads. The ads sell from $750 to $250 each. Do the math and you'll see that you can cover the maintenance cost AND earn money by selling just 4 ads! Besides the fact that we will host your site (provide the web space) all year long, here's what the maintenance fee includes:

  In-season maintenance (once per week):
• We'll post your team's stats for every game and update your yearly cumulative stats. Stats are provided by a team source, usually a coach.
• Posting of game articles (provided by team source)
• Game photo galleries (photos can be provided by team or we can professionally shoot your games for an additional charge)
• Updates to school all-time records when necessary.
• All Booster Club announcements, coaches' announcements, etc.

  Off-season maintenance (twice per month):
• Bi-weekly site updates for coaches' off season team announcements, upcoming booster club events & announcements, fundraisers, etc.
• Photography of all players' and coaches' photos for use in the upcoming addition of your site
 
It's not just the kids! Thousands of parents, alumni and fans living in your town as well as other towns in the area. Local consumers.
Each week I am approached by fans of Guilford's opponents telling me that they visited the GHS site to preview their upcoming game.
Coaches can deliver messages about practices, meetings, schedule changes, off-season workout programs, and any other important info that players and their families need to know. Booster clubs, can use the site to provide info about events and fundraisers to families and fans without phone chains or having to mail or hand out notices.
To be able to easily look back and remember my high school sports career through photos, articles and stats that are available online would be a wonderful thing...but my years came well before the internet. Your kids will love this as they grow older and the memories begin to fade. And the story the website can tell will help build a rich tradition of pride and respect for your sports program.
How else can a player's grandparents who live in California get any closer to their grandchild's games in CT without getting on a plane? They can follow along each week through stats, photos, articles, even videos! This year on the Guilford site we provided a link to a live internet-radio cast and folks were able to tune in to the game across the nation!
